President Donald Trump answering journalists’ questions at the Oval Office.
US President Donald Trump said that he has imposed a 50% tariff on India because there was a ‘unilateral relationship’ between the two countries for a long time.
In a press briefing, Trump said that India imposes 100% tariffs on American goods. This is the highest in the world. This has led to an imbalance in the trade of America and India.
Giving an example, Trump said that American company Harley Davidson could not sell motorcycles in India as India had imposed 200% tariff. Because of this, the company built a plant in India itself, so that it does not have to give tariffs.
Trump said- Tariff Rust Solving Weapon
Trump claimed that economic tension has increased after the US imposed 50% tariff on Indian imports and India is facing 25% extra tariffs when purchasing crude oil from Russia.
Trump again defended his tariff policy and described it as a ‘war -solving weapon’. He said that due to this policy, America gets ‘excellent strength of talks’. Trump called Tariff a magical weapon to negotiate and claimed that he has stopped 7 battles.
Trump also targeted the Biden administration. He said that America is the backbone of the world and in his first four years he made it extremely strong, but the Biden administration weakened it, but now its tariff policy has made America financially the most powerful.

Trump said- foreign companies setting up factories in America
Trump claimed that many companies produce outside the US due to more tariffs. But due to their policies, the situation is changing and now thousands of companies are coming to America.
He said that many car companies are coming from China, Mexico and Canada to make factory in America. He said that there are 3 big reasons behind this. Companies want to live in America, tariffs provide them protection, and they do not have to pay extra tax by constructing here.
He said that this situation is beneficial for America and that is why he imposed a tough tariff on India.
Trump’s claim India ready to tariff 0%
Trump also made it clear that he is not thinking of reducing the tariff imposed on India. However, he said that America’s relations with India are very good.
Trump had earlier imposed a 25% fee on India’s exports, but was increased to 50%. This had an impact on more than 55% of India’s goods to be sent to the US.
On social media on Monday, Trump wrote that India had offered to reduce its tariff, but he did not say when this happened and will America start trade talks with India. He just said, “It’s late now. They should have done this years ago.” Read full news here …
