If you have not yet got e-KYC done for LPG connection, then do it immediately, because its deadline is going to end today. From October 1, the rule of e-KYC will become mandatory for 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinders.

This means that from tomorrow, users whose LPG connection e-KYC is not completed will neither be able to book 14.2 kg domestic cylinder nor will they get subsidy. However, you can complete the verification through the mobile app.

e-KYC of 89.9% users completed

According to the Petroleum Ministry, till September 19, e-KYC of 27.43 crore active domestic LPG connections i.e. 89.9% has been completed.

Their refill booking will continue without any interruption. For consumers whose authentication is incomplete, subsidized refill booking will be processed only after authentication.

What will be the harm if eKYC is not done?

The government has said that consumers who do not want or are unable to do biometric authentication will also get the cylinder. For this, they will have to choose their option through digital channel, app, WhatsApp or IVRS.

  • Supply of 14.2kg cylinder stopped: Booking of 14.2 kg regular cylinder for users without eKYC will be stopped.
  • Will have to buy expensive free-trade cylinders: Such customers will get only 5kg and 10kg free-trade cylinders, which come at commercial rates.
  • Subsidy benefits end: There will be no government subsidy on these small cylinders available at market rates.

If the user completes the verification process later, their regular 14.2 kg cylinder booking and subsidy facility will be reinstated.

e-KYC deadline extended repeatedly

Its initial deadline was fixed as June 30, 2026, which was later extended to July 31, August 7, August 15, August 23, August 31, September 7 and finally September 14, so that consumers could get enough time.

Losses of companies crossed Rs 62 thousand crores

According to government data, a subsidy of up to ₹ 210 is being given on a 14.2 kg cylinder in September 2026. The outstanding losses of oil companies on domestic LPG have crossed ₹62,000 crore by August 31, 2026.

Don’t panic if face authentication fails

There is no need to panic if face authentication fails. Open the app again and do the face verification process again.

Keep in mind that there is enough light on the face and keep the mobile steady. After face scan, check the status of ‘e-KYC Success’ in the app.

Do not assume that e-KYC is complete just because the face scan is done. If the status success is not visible, then get the e-KYC status confirmed in your consumer record from the gas agency.

2 options to get offline e-KYC

If any customer is facing problem in completing the process through the mobile app, then they also have other options-

  • By visiting the gas agency: You can get biometric authentication done by visiting your nearest gas agency.
  • By Cylinder Delivery Man: When the delivery personnel come to deliver the cylinder at home, biometric authentication can also be done through the official device available with them.
