This car has been parked on the ground floor near the main entrance of Ambience Mall, where it has become an attractive selfie point for the people coming for shopping. From morning till evening, customers coming to the mall are seen roaming around this high-tech vehicle. Children, youth and families are enthusiastically taking photos with the car and inquiring about its features from Tesla representatives. People are sharing videos, showing the car’s interior, touchscreen display and auto-pilot demo.

In the morning, the mall management had made special barricading around the car, but it was removed by the company and people were seen sitting inside and enjoying. This Tesla car is a Model Y variant, which is equipped with full autonomous driving (FSD) capability. It is equipped with Artificial Intelligence based sensors, cameras and radar systems, which take automatic decisions on the road. However, due to lack of road safety standards and regulatory approval in India, it will be used only for manual driving for now.

Earlier we used to import, now we will get home delivery. Earlier, Indian consumers used to order Tesla cars through individual imports, which involved heavy custom duties and logistics challenges. But now the company has started home delivery service to select customers in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune including Gurugram.

The service will be based on pre-booking, where customers can order online and the car will be delivered to their home. According to the operations head of the company, a showroom has been opened in Aerocity near Gurugram, the work of building a showroom on Sohna Road is going on. At present, customers will get the facility of home delivery and the hassles of import will end.

The company has recently set up its R&D center in Bengaluru and is considering local production. Experts believe that Tesla’s entry will increase competition in the Indian EV market, where brands like Tata, Mahindra and MG are already active.

Tesla price and range Tesla has only launched the Model Y in India, which is available in two variants, rear wheel drive and long range. The rear wheel drive is priced at ₹59.89 lakh ex-showroom and offers a range of up to 500 km (WLTP) on a single charge. Whereas, the ex-showroom price of Long Range is ₹ 67.89 lakh and it gives a range of up to 622 km (WLTP).

Charging and Speed Tesla comes with two battery options in India. The standard RWD has a 60kWh battery, which has a range of 500 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. At the same time, the Long Range RWD has a 75kWh battery, which has a range of 622 km and it accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The top speed of both variants is 201 kmph.

How and where to book? Booking can be done through the company’s official India portal or can also be done by visiting Ambience Mall in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram. Delivery will be given within one month of booking. Customers can choose from six colours, with Stealth Gray being the standard colour. The interior of the car has black and white color options and it has 5 seats. Both rows of seats have heating and the first row seats have ventilation.

Showroom will open soon in Gurugram Tesla has also taken 33,000 square feet of space in Orchid Business Park in Gurugram, where a service center and sales outlet will be opened. Its monthly rent is Rs 40 lakh per month.
