Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 5 to honour the role of teachers in shaping society. The day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President and a respected teacher and philosopher.

On this occasion, President Droupadi Murmu will present the National Teachers’ Awards 2025 to 45 educators from across the country. The Union Education Ministry announced that the awardees were selected through a rigorous three-stage process at the district, state, and national levels. This year’s list includes 24 male and 21 female teachers, representing schools from big cities to remote villages.

The award recognises teachers for their innovative teaching practices, dedication to student development, and contribution to the education sector. From improving classroom learning with creative methods to inspiring students in rural areas, these teachers have made a lasting impact on their communities.

Among the 45 awardees are educators from states such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, with two teachers each making it to the list. The group also features teachers from the North-East, Union Territories, and southern states, showcasing the diversity of India’s education system.
