The National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12 announced the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3, citing allegations of a paper leak and irregularities

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule launched a sharp attack on the Union government, saying the NEET paper leak had shaken the confidence of students and parents across the country.
Calling the incident deeply disappointing, she said she was surprised that such a lapse could take place when the rest of the world is moving ahead with stronger systems and technology.
“I condemn it, we are in the 21st century, and paper leaks are happening in our country! Investigation should happen, and a result should come. Is anyone thinking about the students and the children? 22 lakh children, their hard work, their career is at stake, the government is responsible,” said Sule.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12 announced the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3, citing allegations of a paper leak and irregularities that threatened the credibility of the examination process. The government has handed the matter over to the CBI for a comprehensive inquiry, and a fresh exam will be scheduled later.
She questioned the credibility of premier agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, remarking that today she didn’t know the hidden power working behind these agencies. Ninety-nine per cent of their cases seem to go into washing machines or don’t know where, and only one per cent reach any outcome.
Emphasising the emotional toll on families, she added that students prepare for years, from KG to PG, and that NEET is a decisive moment in their academic journey.
On the economic concerns triggered by the Prime Minister’s recent remarks on gold purchases, Sule questioned the rationale behind statements that, she said, have contributed to nationwide anxiety.
“This is about the country’s economy, economy doesn’t belong to one party. If the Prime Minister makes such statements, people will obviously panic. These comments are unsettling,” she said, pointing out that the NCP (SP) has been warning about economic distress for over a year.
She also slammed the government on the grand swearing-in ceremony of the CM held in Assam today.
“Ask how many charter planes went to Assam. If one day before PM appeals something to the country, then just a day after, their leaders could have travelled by commercial airplanes also, we would have been happy if that happened,” said Sule.
She also urged the Prime Minister to convene an all-party meeting on issues of National interest.
“Can the government see the reality that we can? This is not the time for blame but for collective responsibility. Sharad Pawar has raised the issue that the Prime Minister should convene an all-party meeting under his own chairmanship. Involving leaders from all parties in the decision-making process on matters of national interest is extremely essential for the welfare of the country.”
“We won’t do any kind of politics if the country is in trouble, but those in power should tell the truth to the people with full transparency,” she added.
Sule expressed surprise on the recent controversy surrounding the national executive list of the other faction of the NCP which missed key names of senior leaders such as Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare. Party chief Sunetra Pawar later clarified that it was a clerical error which would be rectified.
“Sharad Pawar had always considered him part of his core team. I wouldn’t mind if someone like me was not on the list, but seeing his name missing was surprising. I don’t want to peek into someone else’s house, I don’t know if it’s a typo or who is writing the script,” she remarked.
