Noel Tata’s daughter Maya Tata (37 years) will take charge of the e-commerce marketing of Tata Group’s fashion retail chain ‘Westside’. The change, made Monday, is aimed at increasing Westside’s online presence and expanding internationally. However, it is yet to be officially approved by the company. Noel Tata is the chairman of Trent and will step down in November 2026. It is believed that in his daughter’s new role, he will act as her guide. Maya’s brother Neville Tata is already heading Trent’s ‘Star Bazaar’ hypermarket division. It is clear from Maya’s entry that Tata Group is now betting the most on e-commerce and digital integration, so that Indian brands can get global recognition. After all, why did Maya get this new responsibility? Maya Tata, unlike her brother Neville and sister Leah, was not associated with the same group company. Maya started her career with Tata Capital. Then she joined Tata Digital, which is the parent company of platforms like Tata Neo, BigBasket, Croma and Tata 1MG. Here he understood the intricacies of digital commerce, customer acquisition and online retail. It is because of this ‘multi-vertical exposure’ that he is considered the best fit to lead Westside’s omnichannel and e-commerce strategy. They have a business worth Rs 3 lakh crore. All three children of Noel are now handling different big companies of the group. This is part of the strategy to hand over command to the new generation. All three siblings are also on the boards of Tata Trusts entities. Neville Tata is heading Trent’s Star Bazaar hypermarket division. Lia Tata- VP at Indian Hotels Company (Taj). The market cap of these two listed companies is around ₹2.82 lakh crore. 40% of Trent’s revenue from Westside – Trent ends FY 2026 with revenue of around ~19,700 crore. Westside’s share in total earnings was 40%. The company is working on a strategy to open 50 new stores every year. The number of company’s stores has increased to 1,286 in 321 cities of the country.
