In a remarkable turn of events, two Indian-born women adopted as infants by different families in the Netherlands discovered they are biological sisters nearly four decades later. Mina Gelting and Minal Taijon originally met as teenagers at a camp in 1996 and remained friends without knowing their biological connection. A DNA test conducted through MyHeritage recently confirmed that the childhood friends are full biological sisters. Speaking on the broadcast alongside Margot from MyHeritage, Mina Gelting recounted the moment she learned the truth, stating, ‘I just broke down in tears, and I, I, I thought, “Is this really happening?”‘ Both sisters, who grew up struggling with questions regarding their Indian roots and identity, expressed their shared determination to travel together to Mumbai to trace their origins and learn more about their biological parents.
