Scott McTominay has officially been immortalised.
The Bank of Scotland has unveiled a limited edition £20 note inspired by McTominay’s memorable overhead kick against Denmark, the goal that helped send Scotland to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The design blends traditional banknote artwork with imagery of McTominay’s acrobatic finish during Scotland’s dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden Park in November, the result that sealed the nation’s first men’s World Cup qualification since 1998.

McTominay struck early in that game with the overhead effort that instantly became one of Scotland’s defining football moments.
The Scotland midfielder, who has enjoyed an outstanding rise since joining Napoli in 2024, said the tribute felt surreal.
“Reaching the biggest stage of world football is something every player dreams of, and I know it means everything to our fans,” McTominay said, according to BBC.
“Moments like that belong to everyone who follows the team, so seeing my goal featured on a Scottish banknote feels incredibly special.”
Only 100 notes have been printed. Half of the notes will be distributed through collector auctions, prize draws and pop-up events in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Proceeds raised from the auctions and prize draws will support Crisis Scotland, a charity that works with people experiencing homelessness.
Scotland’s return to the World Cup ended a 28-year absence from football’s biggest stage and sparked celebrations across the country.
The expanded 2026 tournament will feature 48 teams and will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
Scotland are scheduled to face Haiti on June 14 in Boston, Morocco on June 19, and Brazil on June 24 in Miami.
