State Bank of India (SBI) is expanding its physical footprint in the United States beyond California, with its wholly-owned subsidiary, State Bank of India (California), opening a new branch in Frisco, Texas on Saturday.
The Frisco branch marks the subsidiary’s first expansion outside California and takes its US network to eight locations. Situated in the fast-growing North Dallas region, it will offer retail and business banking services, including personal and business deposits, commercial lending and international remittances.
The inauguration was led by SBI Group Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, alongside Consul General of India in Houston DC Manjunath and Frisco Mayor Mark Hill.
The new branch is expected to serve individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs and businesses across North Texas, a region with a growing Indian diaspora and expanding commercial links with India.
Manjunath welcomed the expansion, saying the branch would strengthen India-US economic and commercial ties while improving financial connectivity for the Indian community in North Texas.
SBI already has a direct presence in the US through full-service branches in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as a representative office in Washington. These operations are separate from the eight locations run by its California subsidiary.
