Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir structure is now complete, and fresh visuals have been put out by the temple trust. This comes as the holy city in Uttar Pradesh is preparing for one of the most iconic moments in its modern history. On November 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist a saffron flag atop the 191-foot-high spire of the newly built Ram Temple—a moment the trust describes as spiritually historic and symbolically profound for millions of devotees across the world.

Fresh visuals emerging from the temple site show shimmering sandstone pillars, gold-plated kalash work, polished pathways, and the grand spire ready for the Dhwajarohan ceremony. Engineers and rituals teams have conducted multiple rehearsals in the last few days to ensure the ceremony—which will be attended by seers, dignitaries, and thousands of devotees—goes flawlessly.

Ayodhya is experiencing an unprecedented rise in spiritual tourism. In 2020, the city attracted just 60 lakh visitors. Five years later, the numbers have exploded: 23 crore tourists arrived between January and June 2025 alone, and officials now expect the total footfall to cross 50 crore by December. The November 25 flag-hoisting is expected to give Ayodhya another global push, especially as international travel platforms and religious tourism groups amplify the event worldwide.

This surge in visitors is reshaping Ayodhya’s economy and its urban identity. The city is now widely being projected as the world’s largest spiritual city, backed by massive state investment and private hospitality expansion. Ayodhya’s tourism already contributes 1.5% to Uttar Pradesh’s GSDP, and officials estimate its share will rise sharply in the coming years. With Uttar Pradesh chasing its ambitious $1 trillion economy target, Ayodhya is now seen as a core growth engine—one that combines heritage, infrastructure development, and services-driven revenue.

More than Rs 2,150 crore has been invested so far in the Ram Temple and associated development projects. This includes newly built entry plazas, widened roads, riverfront upgrades, and the city’s rapidly expanding hospitality sector. Over 76 new hotels have already opened their doors, while global brands such as IHCL, Marriott, Radisson, Kamat, and Lemon Tree are making significant investments. The result is a booming temple economy where hotels, restaurants, local shops, travel services, and even traditional offerings like puja material and prasad have recorded their highest-ever revenues.

The wider Uttar Pradesh tourism sector is projected to grow into a Rs 70,000 crore industry by 2028, and Ayodhya alone is expected to contribute nearly a quarter of that value. Under chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the broader temple-linked ecosystem across the state is estimated to add Rs 1.25 lakh crore to the state’s GDP, making spiritual tourism one of UP’s strongest economic pillars.

As the final preparations unfold, Ayodhya’s streets are packed with artisans, vendors, pilgrims, and international media teams capturing the build-up. Local businesses describe the upcoming ceremony as another “record season” moment. Guesthouses are full, taxis are overbooked, and shopkeepers say sales have jumped days ahead of the event.

Ayodhyaonce a quiet pilgrimage town, now stands transformed into a major spiritual and economic powerhouse. And on November 25, when the flag rises over the 191-foot spire of the Ram Temple with Prime Minister Modi leading the ceremony, the city is expected to enter an entirely new chapter—one driven by faith, tourism, global attention, and unprecedented economic opportunity.
