Rafael Nadal has shared a funny text from Andy Murray after Arsenal’s win over Real Madrid.

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has revealed that although he wasn’t in touch with Andy Murray for a while, the latter texted him with some quintessential ‘British humour’ when Arsenal thrashed defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League last month.
Nadal was very touched by Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Murray taking the time to attend his farewell ceremony at the Roland Garros on Sunday, May 25, as he dedicated some lovely words to his rivals.
Speaking to the media later, Nadal disclosed that his conversations with the trio revolved around their families and lives, although Murray had some words to share after Arsenal thrashed Real Madrid in the Champions League.
“Well, asking about life, families. You know, my good friend Andy, that we were not in touch for a while, the day that Arsenal beat Real Madrid, when the match just finished, after one second, he texted me a message, telling me… I’m gonna read, because it’s quite good (laughter). I feel that it’s quite interesting. ‘Hey, Rafa, haven’t spoken to you in a while. Just checking in to make sure you are okay,” Nadal said.
“So honestly, [it] takes me like five seconds to realise what I was reading, because at the beginning, I said, ‘Okay, he’s such a nice guy. He’s asking about how I’m doing, family.’ After five seconds, I said, ‘This British sense of humour.’ By the way, I didn’t text him back when PSG beat Arsenal,” Nadal added.
The Spaniard was given a rousing reception as he stepped onto Court Philippe Chatrier for the final time on Sunday in an “unforgettable” ceremony to celebrate his career at the French Open.
Nadal, who retired from tennis last November, was serenaded by the Roland Garros crowd, with spectators wearing different coloured t-shirts to create the message “14 RG, Rafa”.
Nadal dominated the French Open after winning on debut as a teenager two decades back, lifting the trophy a record-breaking 14 times.
Nadal finished with a brilliant 112-4 win-loss record at the clay-court major. He last won the title three years back and played his final match on the Paris clay in 2024 when he was beaten by Alexander Zverev in the first round.
