Arsenal moved a significant step closer to the Premier League title with a commanding 3-0 win over Fulham, stretching their lead at the top to six points.
After a run of nervy performances that saw them surrender momentum in the title race, this was far more assured from Mikel Arteta’s side.
The return of Bukayo Saka, making his first start in six weeks, gave Arsenal fresh energy and control.
Viktor Gyokeres set the tone early, tapping in from Saka’s cross after just nine minutes. A second followed soon after when Gyokeres turned provider, setting up Saka to fire past Bernd Leno.
Gyokeres then grabbed his second just before half-time, rising to head home from Leandro Trossard’s delivery, his 21st goal in an impressive debut season.
With a Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid looming, Arteta rotated late on, resting key players as Arsenal saw out a comfortable win.
Spurs Given Survival Lifeline
Tottenham Hotspur were handed a boost in their relegation battle despite not playing, as West Ham United slumped to a 3-0 defeat against Brentford.
The result keeps Spurs within two points of safety ahead of a crucial clash with Aston Villa.
Brentford, meanwhile, strengthened their push for a top-six finish. Igor Thiago converted from the spot for his 22nd league goal of the season, while Mikkel Damsgaard added a third to seal a convincing win.
Newcastle Ease Relegation Fears
Newcastle United ended a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion to move clear of danger.
Early goals from William Osula and Dan Burn set the tone, before Harvey Barnes sealed the result late on.
Sunderland Slip Up
Sunderland’s push for European qualification took a hit in a 1-1 draw with bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Dan Ballard sent off in the first half.
