Petrol & Diesel Prices Today, May 15: Petrol and diesel prices were increased across Indian cities on Friday, May 15, amid rising global crude oil prices and supply concerns triggered by the ongoing West Asia crisis. According to the latest notification by oil marketing companies, the hike has raised petrol prices by up to Rs 3.60 per litre in some cities, while diesel rates saw an increase of up to Rs 3.56 per litre.

In the national capital, petrol price was raised by Rs 3 to Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel became costlier by Rs 3 to Rs 90.67 per litre. Mumbai residents will now pay Rs 106.64 per litre for petrol, up Rs 3.10, while diesel price climbed Rs 3.11 to Rs 93.14 per litre.

The latest revision comes as state-run oil marketing companies face mounting under-recoveries due to elevated input costs amid West Asia conflict. This is the first fuel price hike after May 2022.

Currently, crude oil trades at an elevated level of $107 per barrel.

Petrol Costliest In Hyderabad, Diesel In Thiruvananthapuram

After the latest price hike, Hyderabad recorded the highest petrol rate in the country. Petrol there was priced at Rs 110.89 per litre on May 15, following an increase of Rs 3.39 per litre. Thiruvananthapuram was close behind, where petrol rates stood at Rs 110.75 per litre.

On the other hand, Chandigarh had the lowest petrol price among the listed cities at Rs 97.27 per litre, despite a Rs 2.97 per litre increase. Lucknow and Noida also remained relatively cheaper compared to several metro cities, with petrol prices at Rs 97.58 and Rs 98.04 per litre, respectively.

In the case of diesel, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest price at Rs 99.63 per litre after a Rs 3.37 hike. Hyderabad followed with diesel costing Rs 98.96 per litre.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh continued to have the cheapest diesel among major cities, with rates at Rs 85.25 per litre after a Rs 2.80 increase. New Delhi also remained among the lower-priced markets, with diesel retailing at Rs 90.67 per litre.
