Winter Session of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Day 15 Live Updates: The Parliament on Thursday passed the nuclear energy with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod to the legislation that seeks to open the tightly-controlled civil nuclear sector for private participation.
The Upper House passed the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill by a voice vote. It was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
VB-G RAM G Bill was also passed in the Parliament on Thursday that seeks to replace the 20-year-old MGNREGA and guarantees 125 days of wage employment every year amid vociferous protests by the opposition, with Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserting that it was needed to fix shortcomings in the old scheme.
The Rajya Sabha passed the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM-G) Bill by a voice vote, hours after it was cleared by the Lok Sabha, amid strong opposition protests over the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the existing MGNREGA scheme and concerns about the additional financial burden on states.
