Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge questioned whether the government’s reforms would bring any real change to the examination system, saying replacing a minister alone was not enough. “The minister is gone, but you are still not making any effort to bring reforms,” Kharge said.
Stemming from widespread protests over the recent NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and calls for broader reform to address the issue, the legislation aims to make India’s anti-paper leak law more stringent by introducing faster investigations, dedicated courts, and harsher penalties for offenders.
The Bill was passed by a voice vote amid opposition sloganeering and a walkout over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the debate.
