Panipat: What really happens to your old clothes? | Inside India’s recycling capital

What really happens to your clothes after you throw them away?

We travelled to Panipat, India’s textile recycling hub, to follow the journey of discarded clothes from around the world. From colour sorting and fibre making to spinning recycled yarn and manufacturing new products, this video tracks every step of the recycling process.

Inside the factories, we met the people behind the industry, saw how old clothes are transformed into rugs and other products, and explored whether Panipat’s textile recycling industry is really as sustainable as it claims to be.

Watch till the end to see how your old T-shirt could become someone’s new rug.
