Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday described friendship with Taliban as costly for the country. He held former PM Imran Khan responsible for Afghanistan-related terrorism.

Referring to an incident in 2021 in Parliament, Dar said that the then ISI Chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid had gone to Kabul. While drinking tea there he said that everything will be fine.

Dar said that till date the country has to pay a heavy price for that one cup of tea from Afghanistan.

Dar said- Thousands of terrorists returned to Pakistan

Targeting Imran Khan, Dar said that his government opened the borders after Taliban came to power. Due to this the terrorists returned. Groups like Pakistani-Taliban, Fitna al-Khawarij and Balochistan Liberation Army are carrying out attacks from Afghanistan.

Dar said that about 35 to 40 thousand Taliban who had fled from here returned. The then government released the terrorists who had burnt Pakistani flags and killed hundreds of civilians. The terrorists released at that time are today the leaders of attacks in Balochistan.

Clashes going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan for several days

The Taliban captured Kabul in 2021 after the US forces left Afghanistan. Then Pakistan supported Taliban. Imran Khan called it ‘breaking the chains of slavery’.

However, now the clashes between the two countries have increased on the border. Dozens of people were killed in Pakistani airstrikes last month. After this the Taliban retaliated. Later a ceasefire was achieved with the mediation of Turkey and Qatar, but the violence has not stopped completely.
