Radhika Yadav murder case: Father allegedly planned her murder
Deepak Yadav, the man who allegedly killed his daughter over her tennis academy dispute, had planned her murder, and the incident had not taken place on the spur of the moment, the police said on Friday.
Deepak allegedly had shot dead his daughter, Radhika Yadav, a state-level tennis player, at their Gurugram residence at around 10.30 am on Thursday.
“He admitted during questioning that he planned the murder,” said Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram police, Hindustan Times reported.
The police detailed how he planned the murder and said that the man sent his son outside for grocery shopping and took the opportunity to kill his daughter.
“He typically bought milk himself in the mornings, but on Thursday, he asked his son to go instead. Once alone with Radhika, he pumped four bullets into her while she was cooking breakfast,” Kumar said.
According to the report, an old neighbour in their native village of Wazirabad claimed that Deepak was unhappy with Radhika’s choice of a partner.
The neighbour claimed that Radhika wanted to marry someone outside her caste, which was against her father’s wishes of a marriage in the same caste.
“He was old school and conservative,” the neighbour said, as per HT.
The police have, however, said that no other motive other than Deepak asking Radhika to shut down the academy due to taunts by neighbours and relatives has come to the fore so far.
Earlier on Friday, Deepak’s friend told CNN-News18 that he did not have the temperament to kill a person. He also claimed that the taunt could not have been a reason for murder, as he owned a lot of property himself.
“He has a lot a property and hence this statement that he was being taunted is not accurate,” the friend claimed.
The police earlier said that Deepak was frustrated with societal taunts and pressure as neighbours and relatives reportedly mocked him, saying he lived off his daughter’s income. Therefore, he wanted her to shut down the academy, and when the argument broke out between them over the matter, he allegedly shot her dead.
