A woman from Gujarat was shot dead in the United States in an incident suspected to be linked to robbery, according to initial reports.
The deceased has been identified as Meghna Patel, originally from Jantral village in Bijapur area of Mehsana district.
According to the information received so far, Meghna Patel had settled in America with her family.
An unidentified man allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on her inside a shop, causing serious injuries. She later died from the gunshot wounds.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced. The video reportedly shows a man entering the shop posing as a customer.
He was seen wearing a tracksuit, jacket, gloves, a face mask and a hat.
According to the footage, the man briefly spoke to Meghna Patel before opening fire within seconds. He was later seen taking something from the table before leaving the spot.
Officials suspect the firing may have been carried out with the intention of robbery. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
