In a grim interstate investigation, police have solved the murder of a 22-year-old pregnant woman from Odisha whose body was recovered from a shallow grave in Gajapathinagaram mandal of Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh.
The deceased, identified as Alu Meena (also referred to as Albina in local police reports) from Tunkhal village in Odisha, had been missing for over two weeks. Investigators have arrested her alleged lover, 35-year-old Mohan Killo (also recorded as Mohan Khil) of Kakiga village, along with an accomplice, Milan Kuldeep, for committing the murder and attempting to conceal the evidence.
Anganwadi Report Uncovers Secret Relationship
Preliminary investigations reveal that Meena and Mohan had been in a relationship for nearly a year. The victim’s family only discovered the affair recently after an Anganwadi health report indicated that Meena was approximately three months pregnant.
Shortly after her pregnancy came to light, Meena disappeared. Unable to trace her for 14 days, her family filed a missing person complaint at the Similiguda Police Station in Odisha.
Inter-State Search Leads to Teak Plantation
As suspicion grew surrounding Mohan’s involvement, the victim’s family tracked potential leads to Andhra Pradesh. Suspecting she had been buried near a petrol bunk at Marupalli village in Gajapathinagaram mandal, the family alerted local police authorities.

Her family formally identified the remains through her clothing.
Digital Forensics and Legal Action
A post-mortem examination was conducted on-site, and tissue samples were collected for DNA profiling to confirm identity and substantiate forensic evidence. Police seized key material evidence, including:
- The vehicle allegedly used to transport the victim’s body across state lines.
- Burial tools and materials used to dig the shallow grave.
- Mobile phones, clothes, and personal effects belonging to the victim and the accused.
Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis and cell-tower location tracking placed both Mohan and Meena together at the location around the estimated time of the murder. Police allege that Mohan committed the homicide to avoid responsibility for the pregnancy, while Milan Kuldeep assisted in burying the body.
Both accused have been produced before the magistrate and remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
