Mumbai Rains Live Updates: Mumbai received a breather on Tuesday after two days of relentless monsoon rain that paralysed the city, with local train services and road traffic gradually returning to normal. However, the impact of the downpour remained severe.
Two minor boys drowned, while two women were injured after cement sheets collapsed at a garden amid heavy rain and strong winds during the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.
Civic authorities reported 428 incidents of fallen trees and branches, along with 28 cases of wall and house collapses over the past 24 hours. On the Mumbai–Pune rail route, one of the three lines damaged by landslides in the Bhor Ghat section is expected to be restored by Tuesday night. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, forecasting intermittent heavy to very heavy rainfall with gusty winds of up to 70 kmph. Schools and colleges across Mumbai remained shut as a precaution.
