Asia’s richest businessman Mukesh Ambani has not taken any salary from his oil-to-telecom and retail sector giant Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for the sixth consecutive year.

According to the annual report released by the company, Mukesh Ambani’s salary, allowances, allowances and retirement benefits have been completely zero in the financial year 2025-26 (FY26). At present, their main source of income is the dividend they receive from the company.

69-year-old Mukesh Ambani had decided to give up his entire salary in June 2020 in view of the impact of the Corona epidemic on the social, economic and industrial health of the country. He had decided that he would not take any salary until all the businesses of Reliance returned to their full earning capacity.

Since then, he has continued to work without salary in the financial years 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and now 2025-26 also.

Salary zero, but got ₹3,996 crore from dividend of promoter group and personal shares

Even though Mukesh Ambani is not taking any salary, allowance or stock options as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), the main source of income of the world’s 22nd richest person is dividend. Mukesh Ambani’s personal net worth is currently around $92 billion (about ₹8.83 lakh crore).

Reliance Industries has declared a dividend of ₹6 per share for the financial year 2025-26. Mukesh Ambani personally holds 1.61 crore shares of Reliance, which will give him a personal dividend income of ₹9.66 crore.

Additionally, the promoter group companies under his control hold 664.5 crore shares of Reliance (50.07% stake), which has earned the promoter group a dividend of ₹3,987 crore. Overall this amount comes to ₹3,996.66 crore.

Anant Ambani got a package of ₹12.17 crore, Akash and Isha got only sitting fees

  • There is no change in the salaries of Mukesh Ambani’s cousins ​​Nikhil and Hital Meswani and both have received a remuneration of ₹25 crore each. This includes ₹10 crore salary and allowances, ₹44 lakh retirement benefits and ₹14.56 crore commission on profit. At the same time, the package of Executive Director PMS Prasad has increased from ₹ 19.96 crore to ₹ 20.58 crore for the financial year 2024-25.
  • Mukesh Ambani’s three children – Isha, Akash and Anant – were inducted into the board in October 2023 without any salary. In the financial year 2025-26, Akash and Isha Ambani have received only ₹5 lakh sitting fee and profit commission of ₹2.5 crore.
  • Youngest son Anant Ambani was appointed executive director on the Reliance board last year, earning him a salary of ₹12.17 crore (which includes commission of ₹2.29 crore) in the financial year 2025-26.

Company’s profit fell by 13% in the fourth quarter

In the fourth quarter (January-March) of the financial year 2025-26, the net profit of Reliance Industries Limited declined by 13% year-on-year to Rs 16,971 crore. Profit in the same quarter a year ago was ₹19,407 crore. However, during this period the company’s revenue has increased by 13% to Rs 2.98 lakh crore. It was Rs 2.64 lakh crore in the same quarter a year ago i.e. January-March 2025.
