Paper leak in the country is no longer the problem of any one exam or state. It has taken the form of a large organized network spread across the country. At least 116 paper leak cases have been reported based on media reports and government action from 2014 to July 2026. About 7.5 crore candidates were affected by these cases and the network of paper mafia was found to extend to 19 states. 89 cases were reported between 2014 and 2024. Of these, 21 were related to central institutions and 68 were related to state level examinations. After this, 20 cases were registered in 2025 and 7 paper leak cases including NEET-UG till July in 2026. 65 papers leaked since 2019, recruitment for three lakh government jobs stuck. Pradhan resigned on 25 July after 36 days of protests. Getting justice for these children is a big tribute for the daughter. No other father should have to see his son’s dream shattered like this. Pradeep’s parents said: If someone else’s son is saved, this will be the true tribute. Rajesh Meghwal and Sushila Devi, parents of late NEET candidate Pradeep Meghwal, resident of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, welcomed the resignation of the Education Minister. The father said that if this decision saves the life of another student in future, it would be the biggest tribute to his son.
