Star Egyptian right-winger Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Everton in the English Premier League on Sunday, April 19, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, only to equal Steven Gerrard’s record of most goals in the Merseyside derby.
Salah may have endured a tough final season, but he delivered when it mattered most for Liverpool. He opened the scoring in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Everton, underlining his class.
Beto levelled for the hosts, but Van Dijk struck a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time, sealing a crucial result in Liverpool’s push for a top-five finish.

Salah’s strike was his ninth in the league against Liverpool’s fiercest rivals, equalling a long-standing club record. He now stands as the joint-highest scorer in this game alongside Gerrard and is all set to depart the club at the end of the season with an iconic status.
Salah has now registered seven goals and six assists in 23 Premier League appearances this season and also became the first footballer to score in a Merseyside derby at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
With yet another milestone achieved, Salah looks well-placed to sign off his Liverpool career on a high.
Liverpool are fifth with 55 points, seven clear of Chelsea, Brentford and Bournemouth, who are all on 48. Salah and Co will look to build on that advantage when they host Crystal Palace next weekend.
“Today was massive in the situation that we are, in hunt for the Champions League spots. That is definitely not Liverpool-worthy, in my opinion, but it is the reality and it was important we got the win,” van Dijk said while speaking to Sky Sports.
