At least six people, including a nine-year-old boy, were injured after a taxicab hit multiple pedestrians in midtown Manhattan, New York, on Wednesday. According to the Associated Press, three of the injured were taken to a hospital and were being treated for their injuries.
The other three people who were hit by the taxi refused medical attention and were reported to be stable.
The report quoted a New York Police Department spokesperson as saying that the taxi driver “may have suffered a medical episode”.
However, an official confirmation on the same was awaited.
Video footage at the scene showed a damaged yellow taxi on the sidewalk cordoned off by police tape.
The car’s front bumper appeared to have fallen off. Later in the evening, the taxi was towed away.
