Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the Bollywood connection between India and Indonesia, saying songs, particularly ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ from Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic 1998 film, were very popular in the Southeast Asian country.
While addressing the Indian community in Jakarta, PM Modi stressed that the relationship between India and Indonesia is rooted in centuries-old civilisational ties. He also thanked Indonesian President Subianto Prabowo for a warm welcome.
“From the moment my aircraft entered Indonesian airspace and I set foot here, I have been overwhelmed by the affection and warmth shown by the people of Indonesia. Words fall short of expressing my gratitude. It was truly memorable that President Prabowo came to receive me at the airport along with members of his Cabinet,” he said.

He also thanked Indonesia for conferring him with the country’s highest civilian honour, calling it another symbol of the close relationship between the two countries.
