Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Live: Delhi doctors on strike will provide free outpatient services outside the ministry of health and family welfare on Monday, even as they continue their protests against the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The resident doctors’ body of the AIIMS reportedly said it will provide free elective outpatient services in at least 36 specialties outside the Nirman Bhawan from 11 am.
In a rerun of the midnight protest campaign, hundreds of women took to the streets in Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal on Sunday night (August 18). Braving intermittent rains, women of all ages and backgrounds assembled in several areas such as Jadavpur, Garia, Behala Parnashree, Khanna, Lake Town, and other city locations, and raised slogans – ‘We want justice’. Protests, similar to the August 14 ‘Reclaim the Night’ rallies, were also held in Madhyamgram Chowmatha in North 24 Parganas, Siliguri, Durgapur and other locations.
