Writing on X, she said, “I participated in and addressed a protest organized by student groups at Chennai’s Rajarathinam Stadium, expressing solidarity with their demands that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign for allegedly using the Election Commission like an extension of the BJP and thereby undermining the country’s democracy and the people’s voting rights.”
I took part in the demonstration held by student organizations at Rajaratnam Maidan, Chennai and addressed in support of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who is questioning the country’s democracy and people’s right to vote by using the Election Commission as a branch organization of the BJP, demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and the withdrawal of the SIR that was conducted illegally.— Kanimozhi (Kanimozhi) (@KanimozhiDMK) October 16, 2026
