A 26-year-old woman was found murdered in a field in Karnataka’s Raichur district, with her two-year-old child discovered lying on her body and crying for her mother.

The deceased has been identified as Sneha, who was found dead in Sindhanur taluka. Police suspect that she was attacked with a stone.

After receiving inputs about the incident, Sindhanur Rural Police reached the spot and began an investigation. Her body was later sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, police have registered a murder case and detained two people, including the woman’s husband and her alleged lover, for questioning.

Raichur SP Arunangshu Giri said investigators were trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify the person responsible, adding the victim was allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair.

“We have registered a murder case and detained two suspects in connection with the case, her husband and her alleged lover. She was allegedly having an affair. We are questioning them further to ascertain exactly what happened and who murdered her,” the SP said, according to a report in India Today.

The child was found crying beside his mother’s body, adding a tragic dimension to the murder. Police are questioning the suspects to determine what led to Sneha’s death and whether the alleged affair had any connection to the crime.

In a separate incident, a 13-year-old boy in Bengaluru was allegedly kidnapped and murdered for a Rs 1 crore ransom. The crime came to light after the accused’s car met with an accident and police found the child’s body in its boot.
