Iran’s warning comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran following US President Donald Trump’s recent threat to target Iranian infrastructure.

Hours after US President Donald Trump’s warning to Tehran, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) escalated its rhetoric by threatening the United States with a 9/11-style attack, saying continued conflict would result in “national mourning in America”.
According to state-linked news agency Tasnim, the IRGC said, “If the war continues, we will carry out regret-inducing operations that will lead to national mourning in America.”
The last time the United States declared national mourning following an attack was after the September 11 attacks.
The latest warning comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran following US President Donald Trump’s recent threat to target Iranian infrastructure.
Iran responds to Trump’s warning
Iran also hardened its position after Trump’s latest warning, saying it would retaliate if the United States attacked any bridge or power plant inside the country.
According to statements carried by Iranian state media, Tehran said any such strike would be met with attacks on infrastructure and bridges across the region. It said the retaliation would specifically target energy facilities where the United States has interests.
The remarks came after Trump warned that if Iran attacked a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would bomb an Iranian bridge or power plant.
Iran’s latest response indicates that it would answer any attack with strikes on multiple regional targets linked to American interests.
Tehran stands firm on Strait of Hormuz
Iran also reiterated its position on the Strait of Hormuz, saying ships could pass safely only if they coordinated with Tehran and followed Iranian arrangements.
It said otherwise it would exercise full sovereignty over the strategic waterway and use its “steely will” to maintain long-term security in the Strait.
A direct military conflict could be triggered by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) carrying out “9/11-style” attacks if conflict continues.
