Iran-Israel War News Today Live Updates: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in joint US-Israeli airstrikes on Tehran on Saturday, Iranian state media confirmed. Meanwhile, Iran has formed a three-member council to govern the country until a new supreme leader is chosen.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump also confirmed his death and called the killing “justice,” saying the operation, conducted with Israel, targeted senior leaders using advanced intelligence systems. Exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi urged Iranians to unite for a “stable transition,” calling any regime succession effort “doomed to fail.”

At an emergency UN Security Council meeting, Secretary-General António Guterres warned of wider conflict and said the strikes violated international law. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the attack as a “pre-emptive strike” against an irreversible threat.

While celebrations were reported in parts of Tehran, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched retaliatory attacks on US bases across the Gulf under “Operation Truthful Promise 4,” raising fears of regional escalation.
