Suspended spokesperson of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Riju Dutta has publicly apologized unconditionally for his statement regarding IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma. Riju posted a video message on his ‘X’ handle and said that whatever he had said about IPS Ajay Pal Sharma was not his personal opinion, but a statement given under the party line.
Riju Dutta said, ‘As the spokesperson of Trinamool Congress, I have Ajay Pal Sharma Made a video regarding this. Now my own party has suspended me for speaking the truth. That video of mine went viral on social media, after which the entire anger of BJP supporters is directed at me personally. I want to clarify that I had made that video as the national spokesperson of Trinamool Congress, from the party headquarters and following the party line. That video was released from the official social media handle of the party. This was not a personal comment.
He further said that on the advice of some senior BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh and his legal advisor, he tenders an unconditional apology to IPS Ajay Pal Sharma, even though his remarks were not personal. He said, ‘I am a common man who wants to live a peaceful life with his family and earn his living. I hope that now this matter will end forever. Let us tell you that after the defeat of Trinamool Congress in Bengal elections, Riju Dutta had raised questions on Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee regarding their association with I-PAC. After this, TMC suspended him from the party for 6 years on charges of indiscipline.

Actually, during the Bengal elections, Phalta assembly seat of South 24 Parganas district was in the news a lot. Questions on TMC high command and I-PAC also
Riju Dutta also raised serious questions on the TMC leadership and the functioning of the party. He said, ‘Didi and Abhishek Banerjee should take responsibility for how an outside organization I-PAC captured the entire party.’ Riju Dutta alleged that the internal situation of the party and the influence of external advisors like I-PAC have weakened the TMC organization in Bengal.
TMC infighting after election defeat
After the recent election setback, dissatisfaction within TMC has started coming out openly. Many leaders have raised questions on the party leadership and strategy. After TMC’s defeat in Bengal, former junior sports minister Manoj Tiwari resigned from the party. Manoj Tiwari criticized senior TMC leader and Sports Minister Arup Biswas and said that due to internal insecurity, he did not allow development work to be done in his Nirvana area.
At the same time, senior TMC leader Krishnendu Narayan Chaudhary and Kolkata Deputy Mayor Atin Ghosh also raised questions on Abhishek Banerjee’s political style and held him responsible for weakening the party. TMC candidate Ratna Chatterjee had also expressed displeasure over not having access to the leadership during the election campaign. However, Trinamool Congress has distanced itself from all these statements. The party said that the views expressed in the media or social media are the personal opinions of the individuals concerned and should not be considered as the official stand of the party.
