India Crude Import: होर्मुज पर संघर्ष के बीच भारत ने उठाया ये बड़ा कदम, इन देशों से बढ़ाया तेल का आयात

Israel -ran conflict between Israel and Iran is increasing and the US has also accelerated it by attacking the Iranian nuclear sites. Meanwhile, threats are also being given by Iran to close the Straight of Hormuz continuously. India has taken a big step amid growing struggle on Strait of Hormuz and more oil is being imported from Russia and America than middle East suppliers. Looking at the statistics, India has reached the two -year high in June.

Oil imports from Russia in June at 2 years high
According to the PTI report, if we look at the data of the Global Trade Analyst firm Capler, India has made a tremendous increase in its oil imports from Russia and America in June, which has gone more than the total purchase of traditional middle East suppliers. Looking at the data of the company, the Indian refiner is importing 2-2.2 million barrels of Russian Crude Oil daily in June, it has reached two years high.

Not only this, India’s oil imports from Russia are more than Crude Oil to be imported from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait, which is expected to remain about 2 million BAPD in June. Earlier in May 2025, India’s crude oil imports from Russia were 1.96 million BPD.

Crude import increase from America so much
Talking about crude oil imports from America, it has also increased in the month of June and has increased to 439,000 BPD per day, which was 280,000 BPD in the month of May. According to Capler’s Chief Research Analyst Sumit Ritolia, although the supply remains unaffected by the Israel-Airan Conflict so far, the activity of the ships shows that the movement of crude oil will decrease from the middle east in the coming days. Ship owners are hesitant to sending empty tankers (BALEST) to the Gulf, the number of such ships has come down from 69 to 40 and the Meg-bound signal from the Gulf of Oman has been half.

What will India do when the struggle deepens?
According to the report, between 1 to 19 June this month, Russian shipment has covered more than 35% of India’s total crude oil. Ritolia has said that if the struggle on the Strait of Hormuz deepens after an air strike on the US Iranian nuclear sites or there is any short -term disruption, then the share of Russian barrels will increase even more, India can turn more towards America, Nigeria, Angola and Brazil, despite more frequency costs. In addition, India can use its strategic stores (covering imports of 9-10 days) to meet any deficiency.

Why is Hormuz important for India?
It is worth noting that India, the third largest oil importer in the world, takes about 40% of its crude oil and about half of the gas through the straw of hormuz. Which is a major oil route. But after Israel and American military operations, it seems to be in danger due to Iranian warnings.

Iran has threatened to shut down its control hormuz. According to reports, this route has 26 percent of the world’s crude oil business and 44 percent of it goes to Crude Oil Asia, which is the highest consumption in China and to some extent in India (India). In such a situation, any obstruction in this essential route can prove to be a big problem, in view of this, India has taken this step.
