After complaints about Tatkal booking failures, captchas and frequent crashes, Indian Railways says a revamped IRCTC website with faster performance will launch by July 15
During a visit to Jaipur, Vaishnaw also highlighted the scale of railway investments in Rajasthan. He said the state’s railway budget has increased from around Rs 600 crore before 2014 to a record Rs 10,228 crore. According to the minister, the higher allocation has accelerated infrastructure development and modernisation projects across the state. Projects include platform upgrades, extensions, improved passenger shelters and other modern facilities. Around 85 stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including Jaipur Railway Station, where major redevelopment work is progressing rapidly. (Representational image)The minister said the government remains focused on improving railway services, digital infrastructure and passenger convenience. However, questions remain over whether the new website will be able to handle heavy traffic during peak booking periods and effectively tackle issues such as bots and ticket availability. Indian Railways is also preparing to replace its decades-old Passenger Reservation System, which has been in use since 1986. The new system is expected to be rolled out by August next year. The latest upgrades are aimed at making rail travel faster, smoother and more reliable. However, experts note that while technology can significantly improve passenger experience, its success ultimately depends on consistent performance and dependable service delivery.
