In a first-of-its-kind operation, a tigress was successfully relocated from Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan using an Indian Air Force MI-17 helicopter. The three-year-old tigress, identified as PN-224, was shifted from Pench Tiger Reserve to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve on Sunday after a 24-day-long operation. This marks India’s first interstate translocation of a tiger using a helicopter. Officials said the move is part of Rajasthan’s efforts to strengthen the genetic diversity of its tiger population.
