The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the official notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2026. The registration process for AFCAT 2026 will begin on November 17, 2025, and the last date to apply online is December 14, 2025. The online examination will be held on January 31, 2026. Candidates are advised to read the official notification carefully before applying to ensure they meet all the eligibility conditions.
As per the notification, candidates applying for the Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry must be between 20 and 24 years of age as of January 1, 2027. This means they should be born between January 2, 2003, and January 1, 2007, both dates inclusive. However, candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License issued by the DGCA (India) can apply up to the age of 26 years, provided they were born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2007. For Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches, the age limit is between 20 and 26 years as of January 1, 2027. This means applicants should have been born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2007, both dates inclusive. The educational qualification required for each branch is mentioned in detail in the official notification available on the website.

The examination fee for AFCAT 2026 is Rs 550 plus GST. Candidates can pay the fee online using credit cards, debit cards or net banking through the payment gateway. The Indian Air Force has made it clear that cash, cheque or demand draft (DD) will not be accepted for payment. The AFCAT 2026 online exam will have 100 objective-type questions carrying a total of 300 marks. The duration of the exam will be two hours, and the test will be conducted only in English. The exam will assess candidates’ knowledge in areas such as General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude.
