The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Monday implemented Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the national capital after Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) touched 425 at 9 am, entering the ‘Severe’ category.
According to the CAQM, Delhi’s AQI, which was 362 on November 10, showed a sharp rise and reached 425 by 9 am on November 11, due to calm winds, a stable atmosphere, and unfavourable meteorological conditions.
In view of the deteriorating air quality, the Sub-Committee of the CAQM decided to invoke all measures under Stage 3 of GRAP—applicable when the AQI ranges between 401 and 450—with immediate effect across the National Capital Region (NCR).
These restrictions come in addition to the actions already in force under Stages 1 and 2 of the GRAP to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
