Rithuparna KS bags Rs 72.3 lakh Rolls-Royce offer after NEET setback.

Bengaluru-based Rithuparna KS has turned heads in the engineering world after securing a whopping Rs 72.3 lakh per annum offer from Rolls-Royce’s Jet Engine Manufacturing Division. Her story stands out not just for the impressive pay package but also for the remarkable turnaround it represents from an aspiring doctor to a rising star in the world of engineering.

Currently in the sixth semester of her robotics and automation engineering degree at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, Rithuparna’s journey is a powerful testament to how setbacks can turn into opportunities.

Like many others, Rithuparna’s journey has seen its share of twists. After failing to secure a government medical seat through NEET, she briefly set her sights on the UPSC, aspiring to become a civil servant. However, it was her father who encouraged her to consider engineering. She pursued engineering through the CET route.

As part of her academic journey, Rithuparna completed an intensive eight-month internship with Rolls-Royce, which not only sharpened her technical skills but also landed her a pre-placement offer in December 2024. Recognising her dedication and capabilities, the company revised her initial salary of Rs 39.6 lakh to Rs 72.3 lakh in April 2025.

“I am a dedicated enthusiast pursuing robotics and automation engineering. I enjoy learning new things, developing ideas and provide solutions to the relevant problems,” Rithuparna writes on her LinkedIn profile.

Thriving Through Internships, Projects And Passion

Rithuparna’s shift to engineering opened new doors. She enrolled at Sahyadri College in 2022, where she gravitated towards hands-on learning and immersed herself in solving real-world problems. She was part of a team that built a robot designed to help arecanut farmers, a project that won recognition and medals at an international conference held in Goa. She also collaborated on research with teams from NITK Surathkal and participated in the Dakshina Kannada DC Fellowship.

Not one to shy away from tough schedules, Rithuparna took on midnight shifts during her internship at Rolls-Royce starting January 2025. Despite the demanding workload, she managed her academic responsibilities alongside, impressing her mentors and eventually earning a substantial pay hike. Her ability to adapt to high-pressure environments and deliver results in globally benchmarked settings helped her stand out among her peers.

She further writes that she is good at communicating with people, giving presentations and enjoys learning and sharing the knowledge that she possesses.

Having faced initial disappointment in her pursuit of medicine, Rithuparna didn’t let it define her future. Her story is a shining example of how alternative paths, when embraced with passion and perseverance, can lead to extraordinary outcomes. After completing her seventh semester, the 20-year-old is now set to join Rolls-Royce’s jet engine division in Texas — making her one of the youngest recruits to join their global team.
