Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday, with the sky turning dark as early as 10.30 am. The sudden change in weather brought an early retreat of daylight and raised concerns over waterlogging and traffic snarls in the NCR.

The rain came as monsoon activity remained strong across several parts of India, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rainfall in Delhi-NCR and heavy showers in parts of Uttarakhand, Odisha and Telangana.

Delhi-NCR Under Cloudy Skies

Delhi, New Delhi, Noida and Gurugram are expected to witness intermittent rain and thundershowers during the day as the monsoon remains active over the region.

Delhi’s weather outlook points to partly cloudy conditions with isolated thunderstorms. The changing weather could bring sudden spells of rain, particularly affecting people travelling or commuting.

Noida and Gurugram are also likely to experience similar conditions as the wider National Capital Region remains under the influence of the prevailing monsoon pattern.

Short spells of rain could affect road traffic and visibility across parts of the NCR. The early darkening of the sky in Gurugram on Monday morning added to concerns about possible waterlogging and traffic disruption after the showers.

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand, Odisha and Telangana on Monday.

Odisha is expected to witness particularly intense showers, while thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely in several regions.

The weather conditions come as monsoon activity continues to remain strong over multiple parts of the country.
