Draymond Green and Steve Kerr clashed during the Warriors’ 120–97 win over Orlando Magic, leading Green to leave the bench.

Emotions Boil Over at Golden State (X)

The Golden State Warriors may have cruised past the Orlando Magic 120-97, but the real drama unfolded in the huddle.

Midway through the third quarter, Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr engaged in a heated exchange during a timeout, an argument intense enough that Green chose to walk off the bench and head straight to the locker room to cool down.

Even after he returned later, Kerr had already decided: Green’s night was done.

“We lost our focus, and we had it out,” Kerr said postgame. “He made the decision to step away. That’s private, and I’m leaving it there.”

Despite the blow-up, Green stressed he wasn’t quitting on the team and made a point of facing the media afterwards, escorted by assistant coach Anthony Vereen.

Green, coming off an ejection against Phoenix just two nights earlier, said removing himself was the only option. “Tempers spilled over,” he admitted. “I didn’t think it was going to get better, so I got out of there.”

The forward finished with nine points and seven rebounds in under 18 minutes, but the stat line felt secondary to the symbolism. Golden State sits at a disappointing 15-15, far from expectations, and Green acknowledged that frustration is bubbling over.

“That’s probably why emotions are flaring,” he said. “Basketball is emotional. It happens.”
