A man from Gujarat’s Surat has reportedly written to the district collector seeking permission for euthanasia, alleging prolonged harassment by his wife and claiming that repeated appeals to authorities have failed to provide relief.
According to a report by India Today, Kirit Patel claimed that his wife repeatedly misused laws meant to protect women by filing complaints against him following domestic disagreements, resulting in severe mental distress.
Patel also alleged that his wife attempted to harm his child from the previous marriage and claimed that despite approaching the police, no First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the matter.
Patel further alleged that his wife used legal proceedings and financial demands to target spouses. Referring to her as a “looteri dulhan” (looter bride), he claimed that she had extracted money from previous husbands as well. However, these allegations remain unverified, and no official findings have been reported to substantiate his claims.
Frustrated by what he described as a lack of action from authorities, Patel has sought permission for euthanasia, drawing attention to his case and raising concerns about the emotional toll of prolonged marital disputes.
Bihar Man Alleges Harassment
In a separate case from Bihar’s Hajipur that recently gained traction on social media, a man named Aman Kumar alleged that his wife left their family and was later found living with another man. Speaking to ANI, Kumar claimed that he had supported his wife’s education after their arranged marriage in 2013, including selling land to help fund her studies.
Kumar alleged that after a year-long court battle, he tracked down his wife to a residence where she was allegedly living with another man. He further claimed that when he confronted them, his phone was snatched and he was threatened. The matter is currently under judicial consideration, and the allegations have not been independently verified.
