The Indian government has rejected Elon Musk’s allegations in which he claimed that some Indian industrialists are not allowing Starlink to come to India to maintain monopoly.

The government said today i.e. on October 8 that the rules set for satellite communication services in the country are the same for everyone. It is absolutely wrong to say that the rules are being implemented to discriminate against anyone.

Musk had accused of discrimination

Earlier on Wednesday, Elon Musk accused the country’s big businessmen of stopping Starlink in India. Musk posted on X and wrote, ‘Some big businessmen of India do not want Starlink’s satellite internet to come to India, so that their monopoly continues. You can guess who they are…’

Musk also wrote in the post that this is a crime against the people of India. Musk did not take the name of any company or industrialist, but his post has sparked debate among Indian telecom companies.

Musk is believed to be pointing towards those telecom and business houses of India, who are opposing or demanding strict conditions from satellite internet companies regarding spectrum allocation rules and security concerns.

The government said in the statement that currently the process of security review is going on for these three. As soon as a company’s security checks are completed, it can proceed to the next step i.e. seeking spectrum allocation. Currently all three companies are in the same stage of the regulatory process.

20 stations and hundreds of antennas deployed across the country

Starlink has set up 20 gateway sites across the country. These gateways are ground stations that connect Starlink satellites in space to the main Internet network on the ground. Hundreds of antennas have been installed at these places so that internet signals can be transferred without any interruption.

Deal with Jio-Airtel, letter of intent signed with 3 states

Starlink has signed an initial memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel to provide large-scale network in India. Along with this, the company has signed letters of intent with the governments of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Meghalaya to provide services at the local level.

Important things related to Starlink in 5 questions and answers…

Question 1: What is Starlink and why is it special?

answer: Starlink is a project of SpaceX, which provides high-speed internet through satellites. Its satellites rotate close to the earth, due to which the internet runs fast and smooth. This is especially beneficial for those areas, like villages or mountains, where general internet is not available.

Question 2: Why did it take so long for Starlink to get the license?

answer: Starlink was planned for 2022, but was delayed due to security concerns. The Government of India had set conditions like data security and call interception. Starlink agrees to these terms. Now services are about to start.

Question 3: What will be the benefit to the common people?

answer: Starlink will provide internet access to villages and remote areas, which will promote online education, telemedicine and business. Also, with increasing competition in the telecom market, cheaper and better plans can be available.

Question 4: Why is India important for Musk?

answer: India is the second largest internet market in the world. This license is a big success for Musk, especially when he is at loggerheads with Donald Trump in America. Due to this, SpaceX’s contracts are in danger.

Question 5: How will the Internet reach you through satellites?

answer: Satellites make it possible to beam Internet coverage from any part of the Earth. The satellite network provides users with high-speed, low-latency Internet coverage. Latency means the time it takes to transmit data from one point to another.

The Starlink kit consists of a Starlink dish, a Wi-Fi router, power supply cables, and a mounting tripod. For high-speed internet, the dish will have to be kept under the open sky. Starlink’s app is available on iOS and Android, which takes care of everything from setup to monitoring.
