According to the CBI, a phishing network operating from NCR and Chandigarh was uncovered in December 2025. This network provided bulk SMS services to cybercriminals, including foreign actors, who used the platform to target Indian citizens. The investigations revealed that the criminal had obtained almost 21,000 SIM cards, which were afterwards employed for the purpose of sending phishing messages, thereby breaching the regulations set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
