Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has indicated that India’s tour of Bangladesh may be postponed again.

The 37-year-old former Bangladesh captain said that talks are going on between BCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the series.

Actually, India was to tour Bangladesh in August 2025, but the series was later postponed to September 2026.

BCB had told in January that India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches in Dhaka and Chittagong. However, BCCI has not yet made any official announcement regarding this tour.

The first schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh, which was cancelled…

New schedule not released yet

According to the press release of BCB, the first ODI of the series is to be held on September 3. But, the new schedule has not been released yet. It is not clear yet whether the series will take place as per schedule or not.

Understand the whole matter in 3 points

  • The series was to take place in 2024: The tour was earlier scheduled to take place in 2024. During this time, there was an anti-government movement in Bangladesh and the government changed. Then before the T20 World Cup, there was tension between BCCI and BCB. Because of this the series was postponed.
  • Security Big Issue: Tamim Iqbal met Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam. He has asked the government to talk to the Government of India. He asked to assure that Team India will be completely safe in Bangladesh.
  • Series possible if situation improves: India has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman to the BRICS conference to be held in India. There have also been talks between the foreign ministers of both the countries. According to experts, if political relations between the two countries improve, the way for the match will be clear.

Tension in relations over Mustafizur’s removal

Before IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders had removed Bangladesh all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman from the team on the request of BCCI.

After this, BCB under the leadership of Aminul Islam had decided not to send its team to the T20 World Cup. This tournament was hosted by India in collaboration with Sri Lanka.

BCCI-BCB relations improved after Tamim became President

Relations between the two boards have improved after Tamim became President. He came to India earlier this month.

Tamim was made the President of Bangladesh Cricket Board two months ago. His tenure is of 4 years. He retired from international cricket last year.
