Casemiro is closing in on a move to Inter Miami after reportedly reaching a verbal agreement to join Lionel Messi’s star-studded MLS side.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, all parties have agreed in principle to the deal, paving the way for the Brazilian midfielder to continue his career in the United States after leaving Manchester United.
The 34-year-old became a free agent earlier this summer when United opted not to extend his contract, bringing an end to a four-year spell at Old Trafford. During his time in England, Casemiro helped the Red Devils win the FA Cup and EFL Cup, adding to an already glittering trophy collection built during his legendary stint at Real Madrid.
Before moving to England, Casemiro won three La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League trophies with the Spanish giants, cementing his status as one of the most decorated midfielders of his generation.
His move to Inter Miami would add another big name to a squad already headlined by Messi. The Argentine superstar fired Miami to the MLS Cup title in 2025 with 29 goals and has continued his fine form this season, scoring 12 times before the league paused for the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Miami currently sit second in the Eastern Conference and view Casemiro as another key piece in their pursuit of domestic and continental success.
The Brazilian is also still performing on the international stage. He has started both of Brazil’s matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and played the full 90 minutes in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Haiti.
The LA Galaxy Wrinkle
While the agreement is understood to be in place, one obstacle remains before Casemiro can officially become an Inter Miami player.
LA Galaxy currently hold the midfielder’s MLS discovery rights, a league mechanism that grants clubs priority in negotiations for certain players entering MLS.
As a result, Inter Miami must first resolve the discovery rights issue before the transfer can be formally completed and announced.
Negotiations are reportedly progressing, but until the situation is settled, Casemiro’s move remains unofficial.
Still, all signs point toward the veteran midfielder swapping Manchester for Miami and linking up with Messi in one of the most high-profile moves of the MLS season.
