US-Iran War Updates: Iran has sent a new 14-point peace proposal to the United States of America via Pakistan in response to the nine-point framework proposed by Donald Trump’s administration to end the war in West Asia.
Iran has demanded that the US end the war on all frontsincluding Lebanon, lift the naval blockade, withdraw forces, and establish a new governing mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route through which 20% of global oil and 20% of LNG passes, as reported by Iranian media outlets.
Among other demands in the 14-point plan are the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the release of Iranian frozen assets, and compensation.
Iran countered Washington’s plans for a two-month ceasefire and pushed for a 30-day timeline to resolve all issues.
Meanwhile, Iran’s deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi said it is up to the US whether to pursue a negotiated settlement or to return to open war, and Tehran stands ready for either.
“Now the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach,” Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran, according to state broadcaster IRIB.
“Iran, with the aim of securing its national interests and security, is prepared for both paths,” he said.
How US Reacted To Iran’s Truce Plan
President Trump said he is looking at Iran’s latest 14-point proposal and also hinted at the possibility of fresh US strikes.
“We are doing very well with regard to Iran. They want to make a deal… They are having a hard time figuring out who their leader is… I’m looking at it… They told me about the concept of the deal. They’re going to give me the exact wording now,” he said.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump earlier cast doubt on Iran’s proposal and said he cannot imagine that it would be “acceptable”.
“I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.
While the deal is yet to be accepted by both sides, Israel continued its strikes in Lebanon, killing three people in the town of Sammaiyeh in the Tyre district.
The Israeli attacks have become a regular occurrence despite the fragile April 17 ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah war.
