ED raids Anil-Ambani’s Reliance Power locations: 15 teams arrived before dawn; The matter is related to bank loan and money laundering




Today i.e. on March 6, ED raided the premises associated with industrialist Anil Ambani and his company Reliance Power. This action was taken simultaneously at 10 to 12 locations in Mumbai and Hyderabad. 15 teams of ED have conducted this raid on allegations of money laundering. According to the reports published in The Hindu and Indian Express, the ED team had reached these locations even before morning. The team searched the premises of the concerned persons and companies. Ambani was interrogated in the money laundering case. Earlier on February 26, Anil Ambani had reached the ED office in Delhi for the second round of questioning in the money laundering case related to Reliance Communications. It is alleged that his companies diverted loans taken from banks and violated foreign exchange rules. Ambani reached the investigating agency’s office at around 11 am. Here he was questioned for about 9 hours regarding violation of foreign exchange rules and diversion of funds. According to ED, Reliance Communications and its group companies had taken huge loans from domestic and foreign banks. At present the total outstanding on these companies is ₹40,185 crore. ED had attached Ambani’s 17-storey house ‘Abode’. The case is related to alleged irregularities and money laundering in the loans given to his companies from government banks. ED is investigating this case on the basis of CBI’s 2019 FIR. Earlier, the investigating agency had attached his 17-storey house ‘Abode’ in Mumbai. Reliance Power, part of the Anil Ambani-led group, is a leading company in the power generation and distribution sector. It is part of Anil Ambani led Reliance Group. Its portfolio includes thermal (coal and gas), renewables (solar, wind and hydro) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
