‘Dirty fellow’ Smriti Mandhana trolls ‘buffalo’ Jemimah Rodriques in fun banter

Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues engaged in a fun banter, showing the camaraderie between them. The two batters are set to take part in India’s campaign in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka, to be held from July 19 to 28. All the matches will be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.

On Monday, the duo travelled to Chennai and looked in a happy mood. Jemimah uploaded a picture of Smriti with a funny caption which read, “Yellow yellow dirty fellow. Agla station: Chennai.” Thereafter, it was Smriti’s turn to troll back Jemimah.

Smriti reposted Jemimah’s post with the message, “Travelling with a buffalo,” followed by a laughing emoji. The two have shared a healthy relationship and their bonding is palpable both on and off the field.

Challenge ahead for Smriti, Jemimah

Smriti and Jemimah have their task cut out as India will go into the Asia Cup as the firm favourites. In the 8 editions of the tournament, the Women in Blue have won 7 times. The only time they missed out was back in 2018 when they lost to Bangladesh by 3 wickets.

Smriti has been a stalwart of the India women’s team for quite some time. She was also in stupendous form in the multi-format series against South Africa. She won the Player of the Series award in the ODIs and backed it up with a hundred in the one-off Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. She also finished off with a half-century in the third T20I.

Jemimah is also in impressive form after she scored an unbeaten 53 off 30 balls in the first T20Ialthough her knock went in vain. India’s opening match in the Asia Cup is against arch-rivals Pakistan on July 19.
