A 28-year-old man was killed and another injured during a late-night shooting and knife attack in the Pul Prahladpur area of Delhi, police said Tuesday.
Mohammad Irshad Alam, also known as Guddu, was struck by multiple bullets and suffered a severe neck wound from a sharp weapon. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
A second victim, 27-year-old Mohammad Farooq, sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand. He was treated at the AIIMS Trauma Centre and discharged after receiving first aid.
Authorities received a police control room call reporting the gunfire at 12:41 am on Tuesday. Local police and senior officials responded to the scene and transported both victims for medical care. According to preliminary reports, the attackers fired at least 11 rounds during the assault.
Crime scene investigators and forensic experts inspected the area, recovering 10 empty shell casings and two live cartridges. Alam’s body is being held for an autopsy.
Police have formed multiple teams to identify and nab the suspects. The investigation is ongoing and will rely on security camera footage and technical surveillance, officials said.
A First Information Report (FIR) is being registered under relevant sections of the BNS.
