According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ forming in the Bay of Bengal is rapidly strengthening and by the morning of October 28, it can turn into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. According to the forecast, this storm may hit the coast near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam by the evening or night of 28 October.
During this period, the wind speed is likely to be 90 to 100 kilometers per hour, while strong gusts can reach up to 110 kilometers per hour. Along with this, a warning has been given of heavy rain in coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas of Odisha. The administration has appealed to the people of sensitive and low-lying areas to remain alert.
